The missing in action “Tourist” Minister!

Last evening at about 8:30 pm, the “Tourist”  Minister, YB Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen was not present in Parliament to answer questions here on her “holiday trips” to 21 countries and 61 cities throughout her tenure as Minister of Tourism since 4th April 2009 and Homestay Programe. She has spent public fund totaling RM3.2 million for the “holiday trips”.  She left it to the Deputy Minister, YB Datuk Dawos to face the music on her behalf.

The net profit for ASTRO as at 31-01-2010 was RM689 million!

None of the questions posed by me here regarding the monopoly by Astro regarding Pay TV when I was debating the 2011 Budget  debate last week have been answered by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information, Multimedia & Culture, YB Datuk Joseph Sallang Gandum.  We all know that Astro is a monopoly in the Pay TV industry and there was no or very little control over it. So far we can see that Astro is allowed to air tv commercials when other Pay TV compnaies were not allowed to do so.  Why the special privileges given to Astro and not others?

At about 9:20 pm tonight, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information, Multimedia and Culture, YB Datuk Salang Gandum, took to the floor of Parliament to reply to the questions posed by MPs during the last week Budget 2011 debate.  He began with thanking MPs for bring up questions relating to his ministry. He said that he will be replying to the questions on IT/internet connectivity for the rural area, no reception of RTM TV programes in certain areas in Sarawak and Sabah, Astro and USP Fund.
