“The controversial, soon-to-be-built Rebana Ubi Arch along the Federal Highway is part of a trade-off deal between the Malaysian government and an outdoor media company, Libroff Media Sdn Bhd, in exchange for an exclusive 15-year concession and a 5-year waiver of advertising licensing fee. As part of the deal, the government will have access to each of these sites for 3 months every year in which to advertise its programmes and promotions.”

It has been strongly believed that Abdullah Badawi will decide today at the Barisan Nasional special supreme council meeting that he will not be contesting for the President post in the coming Umno election which was postponed from December 2008 to March 2009.
The Internal Security Act (ISA) is an outdated piece of legislation. It was originally put into force to curb communist insurgency to preserve the internal security of the nation. Its draconian nature allows the executive government to detain individuals without trial.
Hmm, what will one make of this swap? We shall wait and see … stranger things have happened before.
