At long last AirAsia X Bhd will finally be listed in Bursa Kuala Lumpur very soon. On 10-6-2013 AirAsia X Bhd has made an official announcement of its Initial Public Offering (IPO) of up to 790,123,500 ordinary shares of RM0.15 in the main Board of Bursa Kuala Lumpur (BSKL).  The retail price of the IPO is RM1.45, which is almost 10 times above its par value. Based on its retail price it would appear that AirAsia X Bhd is a rock solid company with big “dreams” otherwise its IPO price would not have been fixed at RM1.45!

Tuan Azahari Dahlan, the ex-AirAsia Regional Head of Engineering, and appointed the CEO of MAS Aerospace Engineering (MAE) after the infamous aborted MAS-AirAsia share swap, is said to be the most qualified person in term of “seniority and qualifications” in MAE to hold the post of CEO. Unfortunately, up to this date this Tuan Azahari Dahlan is still keeping very quiet about the possibility of MAE entering into another joint venture with SR Technics or other entities. “When KLIA2 was first proposed, Malaysia Airports (MAHB) said it would cost RM2 billion, a figure that was later revised to RM2.6 billion. Then came news that the terminal would cost RM4 billion, double the original estimate. Now there’s talk that the bill could go as high as RM5 billion. That makes no sense — the low-cost terminal will now cost much more than KLIA. Yes, I asked for a new terminal but one that has simple facilities. Did it have to cost 20 times our present LCCT?”
