Tuan Azahari Dahlan, the ex-AirAsia Regional Head of Engineering, and appointed the CEO of MAS Aerospace Engineering (MAE) after the infamous aborted MAS-AirAsia share swap, is said to be the most qualified person in term of “seniority and qualifications” in MAE to hold the post of CEO. Unfortunately, up to this date this Tuan Azahari Dahlan is still keeping very quiet about the possibility of MAE entering into another joint venture with SR Technics or other entities. Tuan Azahari Dahlan, who was formerly the Regional Head of AirAsia Engineering and parachuted into MAS Engineering during the infamous MAS – AirAsia share swap, is the most qualified person in MAS Engineering to hold the post of the CEO. Rumour has it that he manages MAS Engineering like a well maintained engine and has also gained lots of respect within MAS Engineering for his great leadership. The pertinent question is, had MAS Engineering, under this highly qualified Tuan Azahari Dahlan, learn the lesson from all its failed joint ventures over the last two decades?

Dato’ Seri Kong Cho Ha: [Ketawa] Untuk menjawab soalan yang dibangkitkan oleh Yang Berhormat Wangsa Maju berkenaan dengan mengapa seorang penjawat DCA menerbangkan A380 yang dimiliki oleh MAS terus ke Kuala Lumpur. Untuk menjawab Yang Berhormat, ini sebenarnya dibenarkan kerana Kapten Sumali ini, beliau adalah seorang yang mahir dengan semua jenis pesawat yang beliau akan menentukan kelayakan juruterbang dan sebagainya. So ini adalah within the permission untuk beliau membawa balik dan menerbangkan A380 untuk meletakkan tafsiran kepada lesen pilot beliau.

Tuan Wee Choo Keong [Wangsa Maju]: Yang Berhormat Menteri, minta penjelasan sedikit. Kapten Sumali ini adalah seorang pegawai DCA. Tugasnya adalah untuk safety audit kapal terbang dan keselamatan yang lain. So itu bukan tugas dia. Persoalannya adalah itu bukan tugas dia. Dia bukan pilot. Saya tidak menyoal kelayakan dia.

Dato’ Seri Kong Cho Ha: Beliau juga seorang pilot dan juga perlu mematuhi untuk upgrade dan update tentang pesawat-pesawat yang baru dalam kerja beliau. Jadi beliau boleh lebih faham tentang perkara-perkara yang tertentu dan untuk mengiktiraf pilots yang lain.

Tuan Wee Choo Keong [Wangsa Maju]: Ya. Beliau bukan pilot MAS. Jadinya beliau tidak ada hak.

Tuan Wee Choo Keong [Wangsa Maju]: Ya, bukan dibayar. Masalahnya conflict of interest. Beliau untuk menjaga keselamatan kapal terbang, flight dan sebagainya. Beliau dari situ boleh ambil masa, time off kerja beliau dan pergi bawa kapal terbang. Ini sudah salah daripada segi abuse of posisi.

On 26-10-2012 Datuk Hj Ibrahim bin Hj Ahmad Badawi, the brother of the former PM (YB Tun Abdullah Badawi) and also the Executive Chairman and majority shareholder of Brahim’s Holding Bhd (Brahim’s Holding) was quoted by the Star to have said: “We want to work with MAS.” For the full Star report read in HERE.

MOF II: MAS paid RM600,000 only for re-branding and designing fee for new MAS logo to Landor Associates & Ogilvy and Mather!

Updates on 23-10-2012: YB Datuk Awang Adek, the Deputy Minister of Finance, was replying to the points raised by MPs during the Committee Stage Budget 2013 debate this evening. He was unable to furnish Parliament with all the replies as he was not well and he has promised to provide written replies to all the points raised during the said debate. However, he managed to speak for about an hour. He did inform Parliament that a Special Task Force headed by the Attorney-General has collected all the information regarding the foreign fund from Mr George Sorros that was subsequently given to Suaram and Malaysiakini and asked MPs to wait for the actions to be taken on this matter. Yours truly will publish once yours truly has been given the reply on the points raised on the consultancy fees paid to Landor Associates and Ogilvy & Mather.

Yours truly has been questioning about the consultancy fees paid by MAS to Landor Associates and Ogilvy & Mather but the top management of MAS is not only keeping mum but hiding behind non-disclosure or secrecy clause in the agreement.   For the background information please read in   HERE. The re-branding of MAS was done in a haste without the approval of the Board  when En Al-Ishal Ishak was the  SVP Marketing and Promotion.  Yours truly has been informed by reliable sources that En Al-Ishal Ishak who left MAS last month has recently joined AirAsia.

AJ’s “People Engagement Survey” should be supported

To do the right thing, MAS had to put transparency and free flow of information as its agenda within MAS. For a start, AJ should tell us how much did MAS pay to Ogilvy & Mather and Landor Associates for its re-branding exercise and designing of the new pale blue logo of MAS.

Yours truly is glad that En Ahmad Jauhari Yahya (AJ as he is popularly known in and out of MAS) has heard the voices of MAS staffs loud and clear in his latest circular/e-mail below. It would appear from the said circular/e-mail that AJ wanted to instill a new spirit in MAS  which should be supported by all.

Both En Abdul Aziz Abu Bakar, Executive Vice President, Aircraft Finance & Management and En Al-Ishsal Ishak, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Products have resigned from MAS. En Azhari Mohd Dahlan is still holding on as the CEO of MAS Aerospace Engineering despite the MAS-AirAsia share swap has been reversed in May 2012.  Can someone help to list down En Azhari Mohd Dahlan’s great achievements in MAS from February 2012 until now?
