Aussie Competition Commission: AirAsia’s pricing was misleading!
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), an equivalent of Malaysia Competition Commission (MYCC), has filed a lawsuit against AirAsia for failing to disclose the full air fare in its website for the following flights: Melborune and Macau, London, Ho Chi Minh City, New Delhi, Hangzhou & Chengdu, Perth and Taipei, Phuket, Osaka, London, Ho Chi Minh City and Hangzhou, Gold Coast and Ho Chi Minh City, in HERE. Is MAS serious about joining Oneworld?
YM Tengku Azmil, the previous MD of MAS, who resigned immediately after the signing of the secret MAS – AirAsia share swap and the Comprehensive Collaborative Agreements (CCF) on 9-8-2011, has signed an MOU with Oneworld on 5-6-2011. Oneworld is an alliance comprises of 12 IATA airlines. MAS was supposed to formerly join the Oneworld in September/October last year. Read in HERE, HERE & HERE.

MAS has announced on 18-02-2010 that 0n 16-2-2010 it had received a complaint filed in the US District Court for Eastern District of New York on behalf of Benchmark Export Services and six other plaintiffs against MAS and 11 other defendants on the allegations of price fixing airfreight shipping services and fuel surcharge and etc. MAS has denied such infringement. On 11-7-2011 MAS paid US$3.35 million as an out of Court settlement which can be considered as the lowest settlement sum under anti-trust laws.

The scheduled meeting at 6 pm of today where Tan Sri Mokhtar has summoned Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad to attend did not materialise. It was just a “rumour” after all! Was it just a rumour that was to “discredit” Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, who is one of those few honorable men left in the corporate world and, of course, his ex-business partner in BinaFikir Sdn Bhd, En Muhammed Rashdan Yusof aka Danny (Rashdan), is included?

Updated @ 12:30 am 22-11-2011: Tan Sri Azman Mokthar, the MD of Khazanah Nasional Bhd in his briefing to PAC yesterday morning and acknowledged that they were 50 verbal and written questions raised by 36 MPs in Parliament. Yours truly regretted and apologized that a new posting cannot be done with regards to what Tan Sri Azman Mokthar and En Ahmad Jauhari, MAS MD, have told PAC with regards to the secret MAS-AirAsia share swap and the so-called Collaborative framework on 21-11-2011. Yours truly was too elated that Malaysia won the SEA Game Football Championship. Cheers to Harimau Muda! The Harimau Muda under the leadership of Mr Ong Kim Sew have made the nation proud. Y.B. TUAN WEE CHOO KEONG [ WANGSA MAJU ] minta MENTERI KEWANGAN menyatakan:-
(a) mengapa pada tahun 2003, MAS yang berada di bawah Tan Sri Md Nor Md Yusof, yang pada masa itu merupakan Pengarah Urusan MAS dan juga arkitek bagi Widespread Asset Un-bundling aka “WAU” telah menjual 70% saham daripada bahagian di dalam MAS Catering Sdn Bhd, sebuah syarikat MAS yang ‘profitable’ dengan purata perolehan tahunan sebanyak RM300 – RM400 juta dan keuntungan bersih sebanyak RM50 juta atau lebih setiap tahun, kepada sebuah syarikat dan serentak dengan itu MAS memasuki suatu perjanjian yang dianggap berat sebelah terhadap MAS di mana MAS terpaksa membeli semua makanan dan minuman serta lain-lain perkhidmatan kabin dengan keuntungan jaminan daripada syarikat tersebut selama 25 tahun; dan
(b) nama syarikat itu dan juga harga jualan serta butir-butir penuh perjanjian selama 25 tahun tersebut dan apakah tindakan yang telah diambil oleh Khazanah untuk memecahkan perjanjian yang tidak adil ini yang boleh menjejaskan pertumbuhan MAS dan/atau untuk meringankan beban kewangan MAS.
Deputy Finance Minister told Parliament: MAS-AirAsia share swap based on share price on 5-8-2011
YB Datuk Awang Adek, the Deputy Finance Minister told Parliament during Questions Time that MAS – AirAsia share swap of 20.5% MAS share against 10% AirAsia Bhd was based on closing price of both share counters on 5-8-2011. The Deputy Minister also told Parliament that said share swap was all about “KERJASAMA”/Co-operations between the two airlines. But he could not elaborate what he meant by “Kerjasama”/co-operation. He also said the public will be told of the “Kerjasama” from time to time. Why from time to time? Why not do a tell-all now. Are there anything to hide, Mr Deputy Finance Minister?
